This Clean Eating Has Changed My Life

Hello! I read DLG's book prior to joining this group. I just want to give a "praise report" or words of encouragement for those suffering with insomnia. I'm 55 years old and I have been suffering with insomnia for at least 25 years. My doctor gave me prescription sleep meds that worked but I didn't always have the time to go in for mandatory "check ups" to renew my prescription so I found various OTC meds that helped with my insomnia, such as Benadryl, Equate sleep-aids, etc. I'd even take a dose of Ny-Quil just to help me sleep through the night. Still my insomnia was possessing my night time sleep. After reading his book I decided I wanted off all meds & decided to toss out EVERYTHING I had to make me fall asleep. This was a major detox for me! For 4 nights straight I did not fall asleep til about 4 am and my wake up time is always 6am! I was miserable! I wanted to pop a sleeping pill every single night because I was exhausted, tossing, turning, walking etc. g. But I stuck it out because I knew I'd started eating right, cleaning up my diet accordingly and I just wanted a complete nights rest. Well about evening 5 it happened! I fell asleep and did not wake til my alarm went off! It's been about 3 weeks to date that I literally sleep from the time I lie down til it's my wake time. When I do wake mid sleep (to go to restroom or whatever) I lie down and I'm back into my slumber. I strongly believe my whole hearted dedication to changing my diet, changed my rest. I can even take a nap mid day and still fall asleep on time. This clean eating has changed my life and I'm forever grateful! BONUS: plus I've lost 16 lbs in the last month!
